What would you do if you discovered a case of successive rapes of girls? I suppose you will say: report it. What if a person linked to the aggressor tells you that if you report it, they will invent a case of harassment or rape against you? Even then, suppose there is someone who wants to do it despite the risk and retaliation, thinking that in case they would receive that accusation, they will be able to prove that it is not true. What if there are other people with no direct link to the aggressor who do not want it to be known that they already knew this and did not do anything and also threaten to join the accusation of accusing you of harassment?

In current practice, almost all people look the other way and many opt for the morbidity of the media circus of accusations against those who do act in favor of these girls, to prevent them from suffering something so terrible. This morbidity show clearly goes against these girls having support. The institutional changes that are taking place to intervene are very positive, they are essential and there are professionals doing a wonderful job.

However, we know that we also need the bystander intervention, that everyone acts. And one of the requirements to take steps towards that goal is that there were not such morbid media spectacle and, if there are, that the audience does not feed them, each person can do something, we can always contribute in some way.

Scientific analyses of the current spectacle will reveal how much emphasis is placed on morbidity and how little care is given to the girls who are being raped.
