Eight alleged victims, all scholarship holders, lodged complaints against several senior individuals with CREA’s Equality and Zero Violence Commission. While all members had been invited to share their grievances and perspectives, these senior individuals consistently refused any dialogue, both with the scholarship holders and the commission itself.

Consequently, a statement outlining points concerning abuse of power began to be drafted. The final version is now publicly available on CREA’s website. Disturbingly, some of the senior individuals threatened to invent various attacks against CREA, even to the point of its destruction, if the Zero Violence pronouncement proceeded. In stark contrast, the vast majority of CREA members believed they could not advocate for zero violence in educational settings without applying the same principle within their own research centers.

These individuals ultimately left CREA either in the final stages of this process or immediately after the statement’s publication. They then disseminated a first major falsehood, which fortunately gained little traction: they claimed CREA had fabricated the statement as retaliation for their departure. This was quickly disproven by written records confirming their exit occurred when the process was already well underway, or even completed.

This initial fabrication, designed to re-brand CREA as a cult that entrapped its members, failed. More enraged, they then concocted a second, less verifiable falsehood with greater potential for widespread dissemination. Believing that sensationalized sexual accusations would succeed in destroying CREA, they fabricated stories of a sexual nature.

An additional motive fueled their actions: a senior female individual’s strong desire for revenge. CREA had refused to ignore serious allegations involving a non-Catholic Christian religious figure. This senior individual, formerly a junior member, had previously been a vocal advocate against abuse and a public defender of individual liberties within CREA. Their sudden change of stance provided a highly destructive weapon: by contradicting her past assertions, she could undermine the credibility of current junior members’ claims against CREA.

They believed this strategy provided a perfect alibi, enabling the media to portray those accused by the true victims before the Equality Commission as «victims» themselves. Furthermore, by asserting that «victims» must always be believed, they implicitly encouraged the invention of the most outrageous and sensationalistic fabrications possible, aiming to maximize media viewership.

What happened when the actual victims sought to be heard? They were denied a voice. One interviewee was told that the program was already finalized and could not be altered. Another victim was accused of manipulation and, in addition, subjected to insults.

Ultimately, the complete truth is known, and will continue to emerge. A revealing tweet from one of the journalists, responding to the first victim who broke the silence by publicly demanding CREA’s stand against violence and presenting complaints against some of those the media had presented as «victims,» is particularly telling.
